IDENTITY
WHO WE ARE. Romanian Television is a public institution that broadcasts on six different channels: TVR1, TVR2, TVR3, TVR Cultural, TVR Info and TVR International. We also own an experimental channel that broadcasts in High Definition: TVR HD. TVR covers the most important news events nationwide through its five territorial studios: Cluj, Craiova, Iaşi, Timişoara, Tîrgu Mureş.
HOW WE OPERATE. TVR is currently under the control of the Parliament in accordance with Law 41/1994. The President of the Administration Council is elected in Parliament for a four-year mandate.
HOW WE ARE FINANCED. The majority of funding comes from public television’s fee which is currently the lowest in the EU. Around 98% of the funds that TVR receives from the state budget go to the National Radiocommunication Society for territorial broadcast. Income generated by advertising is limited due to legal restrictions.
